Devil in the White City
Slightly more about the Worlds Fair than it was about the serial killer H.H. Holmes, this book was a satisfying non-fiction of well-told information. I knew very little about Holmes or the World's Fair, but I've now found myself impressed with the feats that were accomplished in the industrial era, and the ease that Larson was able to tie together so many interesting facts. I give this book 4 stars instead of 5 because there were areas that dragged a bit. Still, I enjoyed Larson's very sparing use of his wry sense of humor, and would recommend it to anyone interested in true crime, architecture, the victorian era, serial killers, and american history.
