This is a movie that I loved the cinematography more than anything else - Ida (same director, Paweł Pawlikowski) was one of my all-time favorites, I can't say the same for this. I feel like I've read/watched/heard this story of doomed love that ruins lives many times before....it's a bit too common of a motif in eastern European media.

Still, their reasons for leaving Poland and their relationship troubles will haunt me for some time. One thing I found strangely relatable was the concept of being miserable in Paris - sometimes it can't be helped, but how spoiled could you be to waste time in PARIS being miserable? I confess this is a fear of mine.

Anyway, love a romantic suicide pack. Just what the story needed to wrap up.
